iOS deliberately makes enabling a Safari extension a manual, visible step. After installing Reconnect: open Settings → Apps → Safari → Extensions → Reconnect and turn it on. Then set “Allow on Every Website” → “Always Allow.” The in-app “Safari” onboarding step walks you through these exact taps. Once enabled, a calm overlay appears when explicit content shows up in Safari.

No. Reconnect never takes screenshots and never records your screen. Detection of explicit content runs entirely on your device, and nothing about your browsing leaves your device, not to us, and not to a “partner.” See our privacy policy for the full detail.

Your person is someone you choose to reach out to in a hard moment. Adding them is optional. The message is prefilled as warm support (“thinking of you, having a hard moment”), never a confession or a report of what you were doing. Their name and number are stored only on your device, and Reconnect never messages them on your behalf.

You unlock by doing the practice: breathe, spend a few minutes in God’s presence (scripture, a prayer, or silence), name what you’re feeling, and optionally reach out, followed by a short cooldown. The lockout is the consequence; the practice is the key. You’re never watched into compliance.

Reconnect now blocks porn sites across every browser on your device, not just one, with a filter that runs on your device, and it can set time limits on the apps that pull at you (like TikTok or Reddit). When you pass a limit those apps lock, Reconnect brings you into the practice, and they stay closed for the whole break you chose, then reopen on their own. We’re honest about our limits, too: Reconnect doesn’t watch the contents of feeds inside other apps, like TikTok or Instagram. For those, we help you set time limits instead. We’ll never give you a false sense of security.

No. The core features work with no login. An account is optional. It carries your settings between your devices, connects you with an accountability partner if you invite one, and holds your subscription. Reconnect doesn’t use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.

Only what you chose to tell them, and only because you invited them. They hear when you complete the practice, get a weekly count, and are told if your protection turns off, comes back on, or stops checking in for over a day. They never see your journal, what you type, which sites you visited, or which apps you used. The app shows you exactly what they see, you choose each channel, and you can end the partnership at any time. Being someone’s partner is always free.

If you choose that, yes. Your partner sets the passcode that locks your Reconnect settings, and can unlock it when you ask. Only a salted hash of it reaches our servers, never the passcode itself. It’s opt-in, and ending the partnership clears it.

The practice, the blocking, your own site list, app time limits, the journal, the communities list, and being someone else’s partner are all free. Reconnect Plus is an optional monthly subscription that adds four things: inviting an accountability partner, the tamper alerts that partner receives, the comprehensive filter list (thousands of porn sites, updated every month), and settings sync across your devices. Open the Community tab and type your ZIP code. The list of recovery communities and fellowships is one we vet, and the filtering happens on your phone, so Reconnect never asks for your location and your ZIP code never reaches us.

With Reconnect Plus, yes. Sign in on each device and your cooldown, your app limits, your person, and your own site list carry across. Your journal, your triggers, and your Settings passcode stay on each device and never sync. You can see which devices are signed in under Settings → Account in the app, or on your account page.

No. Reconnect is a voluntary tool for someone who wants to change and is choosing it for themselves. It is not a parental-control or surveillance product, and it isn’t designed to monitor anyone against their will.

Your journal, trigger map, and your person’s contact info are stored only on your device. Deleting the app removes them from your device. If you created an optional account, you can delete it in the app under Settings → Account, on your account page, or by emailing us. That removes your synced settings, your device list, your event log, your partnerships, and your subscription record from our servers, and signs you out everywhere. Deleting your account doesn’t cancel a subscription for you: an App Store subscription is cancelled in the App Store, and a web subscription on your account page.

Deleting Reconnect removes its protections too. The Safari overlay, the on-device porn filter, and any Screen Time limits Reconnect set are all tied to the app, so iOS clears them when the app is gone. If anything still looks blocked or greyed out afterward, restart your device, or open Settings → Screen Time and remove Reconnect there to clear it fully.
